Penallta Industrial Estate holds the bulk of local units, and Lux Traffic operates nearby. Logistics outfits are more common here than in most of Britain, so yards, loading areas and parked fleets are a real exposure after dark. Gatehouse control, patrol visits and alarm response give those premises cover without the cost of a permanent guard. - Penallta Industrial Estate within 5km - Transport and logistics: 7.6% of Merthyr Tydfil firms - Stations at Quakers Yard, Abercynon and Merthyr Vale - Police focus on e-scooters and bikes at Treharris Square Get a Quote [View Treharris on OpenStreetMap](https://www.openstreetmap.org/search?query=Treharris%2C%20Merthyr%20Tydfil) Treharris Business Profile ## The firms behind Treharris's economy Merthyr Tydfil county has 1,250 registered businesses. Updated October 2026. Security Requirements in Treharris ## A valley town with a mining past Treharris grew as a coal-mining town in the Taff Bargoed valley of Merthyr Tydfil county. Within 5km today there are four railway stations, at Quakers Yard, Abercynon, Merthyr Vale and Penrhiwceiber, three mapped construction sites and 29 pubs, bars and clubs, but no retail parks or hospitals. The security picture follows from that. Most needs are small-scale and spread out: an estate unit that wants an alarm answered, a pub that wants door staff on a Saturday, or a building site that wants a camera tower over a bank holiday.
