Security Requirements in St Andrews ## A compact town with late nights St Andrews has no retail parks or rail stations inside 5km, so its activity is concentrated: the community hospital, the university estates, a run of licensed premises and a handful of venues. When students and visitors are in town, the evening economy is busy, and when terms end, buildings can stand empty for weeks. That rhythm suits door supervision on the busy nights, swapping to key holding, alarm attendance and scheduled patrols once the term ends and halls stand empty. Scottish forces publish through Police Scotland, not Police.uk, so the street-level breakdowns shown on our English and Welsh town pages do not exist for Fife. Walking your own premises is more revealing. During the free audit an assessor tests doors, lighting, alarms and staffing against 25 set points, then writes up where the weaknesses are.
