Security Requirements in Skipton ## Skipton as a trading town Skipton has four rail stops within reach, including Embsay and Cononley, and shoppers use Albion Place in the centre. Skipton General Hospital and Craven Art House sit among the named sites close by. Police have also flagged the sale of illegal alcohol, vapes and cigarettes. Responsible retailers sometimes find themselves dealing with people turned away elsewhere, and a visible officer helps staff refuse sales with confidence. Skipton Security FAQs ## Frequently asked questions ### Our alarm went off overnight. Can you attend? Yes. Controllers in our own room are on duty all night and can dispatch a licensed officer to inspect, lock up and write up your premises. Signing up for key holding in advance means we already hold your keys and site instructions, which shortens the response. ### Can you cover a shift if our own guard drops out? We can fill gaps in a rota. Once controllers confirm a name, the officer signs in by GPS on arrival and you get a full digital shift report. Hospitality is 8.0% of local firms, so weekend door cover suits many local venues. ### Shop theft is a worry in Skipton. What can we do? Police.uk logged 107 shop thefts near the centre over the year, and police have it on their list. Putting a uniformed officer on the floor through peak trading, plus a short staff briefing is a practical way to tackle losses. ### Do you protect farms around Skipton? Nearly a fifth of North Yorkshire firms, 18.0%, are farms. We put solar CCTV towers on fields and yards without power and run rural patrols to check machinery, fuel and livestock buildings on unpredictable schedules. ### Is there anything for the area around the bus station? Anti-social behaviour around the bus station is a stated police priority. Firms close by can book a patrol around closing, when an officer checks doors and quietly moves groups along; the written log is yours to pass to local police.
