Builders lead on 4,020, farms come close on 3,775 and professional services follow on 2,700. That 14.8% farming share is over three times Britain's 4.5%, which is why countryside routes and off-grid towers suit Cornish farms, especially yards with no mains supply. Utilities reach 1.0% of firms, above 0.6% nationally, and substations or pumping sites need dedicated guarding with remote monitoring. Officers sent to Penzance carry SIA licences, have cleared BS 7858 checks and are salaried under PAYE.
