Yet a film night, a wedding reception or a summer fete still deserves proper planning, with someone on the gate, someone keeping an eye on parked cars and someone able to calm a heated moment. Our licensed event staff and door supervisors do all three. Organisers expecting more than 200 should start preparing for Martyn's Law ahead of 2027, and we can talk them through it. - The Picture House cinema close at hand - A dozen licensed premises across 5km - Police tracking thefts of quads and farm kit - Just 38 offences logged in a year Get a Quote [View Middleham on OpenStreetMap](https://www.openstreetmap.org/search?query=Middleham%2C%20North%20Yorkshire) Middleham Business Profile ## Farms, hospitality and our cover We staff Middleham from our network across North Yorkshire. Every officer carries an SIA licence, has been checked to BS 7858 and receives PAYE wages. Whether it is a function shift or a midnight farm visit, a satellite stamp marks the arrival, and our own controllers sit up through the night to take call-outs. Farming is the commonest business type among North Yorkshire's 32,560 registered firms, outnumbering professional practices and builders. Land-based firms form 18.0% of that list, quadruple the national proportion, while pubs, hotels and cafés account for 8.0%. Licensees value a door supervisor on their busiest nights; landowners around Middleham want rounds along farm tracks and self-powered camera towers. 32,560 Registered businesses in North Yorkshire 12 Pubs, bars & nightclubs within 5 km ### Venues & Martyn's Law The Picture House is Middleham's main venue. Should an event there or elsewhere pass 200 guests once the Act takes effect, Martyn's Law requirements will apply, and our crews can carry out bag checks and stewarding. Security Requirements in Middleham ## Small town, rural risks No industrial estate or retail park appears within 5km of Middleham, and Leyburn is the only rail station inside that radius. Daily life turns on a few pubs and the farmland that surrounds them. The Leyburn police team says thieves, probably travelling from outside the area, have broken into rural properties and driven off with quads, machinery and hand tools. So although crime in the town itself is minimal, farmers have real reason to tighten up. Twenty were violent or sexual, six were anti-social behaviour, five were damage or arson, and burglary and vehicle crime registered two apiece. The numbers are tiny. What matters more to landowners is the pattern officers describe: break-ins at outlying farms where quads, kit and tools disappear, with officers believing those responsible come from wider force areas. 38 Recorded crimes in 12 months 20 Violence & sexual offences 6 Anti-social behaviour 5 Criminal damage & arson 2 Burglary 2 Vehicle crime Source: [Police.uk](https://www.police.uk) open data, street-level crime within ~1 mile, September 2025 to August 2026. Middleham Security FAQs ## Frequently asked questions ### Is security worth it for a small Middleham event? Even a modest function runs more smoothly with licensed staff on the entrance and in the car park. Once numbers pass 200, Martyn's Law will apply once it comes into force, and we help organisers draft sensible search and evacuation plans. ### How do we stop thieves taking quads and tools? Leyburn officers report rural break-ins aimed at quads and equipment. Solar camera towers, patrol visits nobody can predict and an alarm linked to our controllers give early warning and make a yard a harder target. ### With so little crime, why bother? Only 38 offences were logged inside a mile all year. Our Middleham work is therefore mostly about prevention: watching remote outbuildings, and supplying staff for functions and the busier pub nights. ### Can you supply a door supervisor for a pub? Pubs, hotels and cafés make up 8.0% of county businesses. On a big night or for a private party, a licensed door supervisor manages entry calmly and writes up anything that happens. ### Who goes out if a farm alarm triggers at night? If we hold your keys, a licensed officer drives out, inspects the buildings and reports what was found. Controllers manage the whole call, sparing you a solitary trip in the dark.
