Construction is the biggest group at 260, followed by hospitality at 135 and retail at 115. Builders need site cover against plant and materials theft, while the hospitality and retail firms between them account for much of the town centre's footfall and its exposure to theft and disorder. Two sectors stand well above the British average. Transport and logistics firms make up 7.6% of the local total against 4.3%, so gatehouse control and yard or warehouse guarding are common requirements. Hospitality's 10.8% share, against 6.5% nationally, creates steady demand for door supervisors and evening cover. All officers we deploy hold SIA licences, pass BS 7858 vetting and are employed through PAYE. 1,250 Registered businesses in Merthyr Tydfil 9 Active construction sites mapped within 5 km 33 Pubs, bars & nightclubs within 5 km ### Retail, industry and venues in Merthyr Tydfil - **Industrial & business parks:** Cyfarthfa Park Industrial Estate, Abercanaid Industrial Estate, Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Park, Amnitec Ltd, Hoover and Tenneco Walker Uk Ltd - **Retail parks & shopping centres:** Beacons Place Shopping Centre, St Tydfil Shopping Centre, Cyfarthfa Retail Park and Cyfarthfa Retail Park North - **Hospitals:** Prince Charles Hospital / Ysbyty'r Tywysog Siarl - **Rail stations:** Merthyr Tydfil, Pentre-bach and Troed-y-rhiw ### Venues & Martyn's Law Theatr Soar, the Merthyr Town F.C. ground and Vue Merthyr Tydfil all fall within 5km. Security Requirements in Merthyr Tydfil ## A working valley town Merthyr Tydfil's named sites tell the story of a place that still makes and moves things: Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Park, Amnitec and the Hoover site sit alongside the retail parks. That leaves a mix of open yards and loading bays that sit quiet overnight, shopping centres with heavy daytime trade, and a night-time economy concentrated in town. Each needs a different blend of guarding, patrols and monitored cameras.
