Agriculture leads with 2,220, ahead of construction on 1,315 and professional services on 1,230. With farming at 20.5% of firms against 4.5% across Great Britain, the most common needs are rural mobile patrols and solar CCTV towers that keep watch over machinery, fuel and livestock buildings without mains power. Manufacturing is the other sector ahead of the national picture, at 5.7% compared with 4.6%. Makers and processors usually want a guard on the gate, controlled entry for visitors and someone to attend when an alarm trips. Our officers are SIA-licensed, cleared to BS 7858 and directly employed through PAYE, and their patrol visits are recorded by GPS. 10,835 Registered businesses in Herefordshire, County of 8 Pubs, bars & nightclubs within 5 km ### Named sites around Kington - **Industrial & business parks:** Hatton Gardens Industrial Estate Sources: Go Security officer network (counts rounded to the nearest 5); ONS UK Business Counts via Nomis; place data © [OpenStreetMap contributors](https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright). Beyond Hatton Gardens Industrial Estate, most businesses are farms, workshops and the eight pubs and bars mapped within 5km. Long distances between premises make it impractical to staff each one, so shared patrol routes and remote monitoring make more sense. Police have named rural crime as a priority, which reflects the value of equipment kept in barns and yards that are often unattended at night.
