Construction is the largest group at 245, then retail at 140 and hospitality at 130. Two sectors run well above the Great Britain average: manufacturing accounts for 8.6% of firms against 4.6% nationally, and motor trade for 6.4% against 3.0%. Production sites on the estates need access control and alarm response, while garages and forecourts are exposed to vehicle theft overnight. For motor traders, CCTV towers and overnight patrol visits give a visible deterrent across open forecourts. Retailers and hospitality businesses, the second and third largest groups, deal more with disorder and damage around closing time. Three construction sites mapped nearby add a need for temporary cover on plant and compounds. All officers are BS 7858 vetted, paid via PAYE and booked on by GPS. 1,335 Registered businesses in Blaenau Gwent 21 Pubs, bars & nightclubs within 5 km ### Industrial and retail sites around Brynmawr - **Industrial & business parks:** Blaenant Industrial Estate, Rising Sun Industrial Estate, Waun-y-Pound Industrial Estate, Rassau Industrial Estate, Brecon Power STOR and Gilwern Gas Metering Station - **Retail parks & shopping centres:** Lakeside Retail Park, Ebbw Vale Shopping Centre and The Walk Retail Park - **Hospitals:** Three Valleys Hospital and Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan - **Rail stations:** Ebbw Vale Town and Ebbw Vale Parkway ### Venues & Martyn's Law Venues near Brynmawr include The Beaufort Theatre, Eugene Cross Park stadium and The Welfare Venue. Security Requirements in Brynmawr ## Works, rail halts and hospitals Beyond the estates, the mapped sites around Brynmawr include the Carreg Pumping Station and the Brecon Power STOR installation, both utility sites that rely on secure perimeters. Three Valleys Hospital and Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan serve the area, and rail links run through Ebbw Vale Town, Ebbw Vale Parkway, Furnace Sidings and the Whistle Inn halt. Small towns with neighbours this close share their risks. Damage or anti-social behaviour around one estate can move to the next, so linked patrol routes across Brynmawr, Blaina and Ebbw Vale often make more sense than isolated visits.
