Updated October 2026. Security Requirements in Blakelaw ## Parades, estates and rail stops The named sites around Blakelaw show commerce spread out rather than gathered in one centre. Shopping is local and spread out, from the parade on Mallowburn Crescent to Kenton Park Shopping Centre, while Noble Street, Whithouse and Airport industrial estates sit within reach. Rail stops at Fawdon, Wansbeck Road and Kingston Park link it to the wider city. That spread favours mobile patrols and key holding over a single fixed guard. The police team's focus on motorcycle nuisance and youth anti-social behaviour points to problems that tend to land on shop fronts, car parks and estate perimeters after dark, so lighting checks, locking-up rounds and alarm response all play a part. Our mobile patrols visit car parks and yards after dark, with every check timed by GPS and reported digitally. ### Who would actually turn up at our premises? Visible patrols and CCTV help deter it and give owners a record of what happened. ### Can you staff matchdays or events at Kingston Park? Organisers at Kingston Park stadium or the Jubilee Theatre can book SIA-licensed stewards and event officers. Martyn's Law will cover gatherings of 200 or more once it starts, and we can help with search routines and evacuation planning.
