Construction is the largest group with 1,625, professional services have 1,185, and leisure and entertainment 830. That leisure base supports event stewarding and Martyn's Law preparation for larger gatherings. Officers we deploy are SIA-licensed, BS 7858 vetted and paid through PAYE, and each shift is booked on by GPS and reported to our 24/7 control room. Two sectors run above British averages: agriculture at 6.0% compared with 4.5%, and manufacturing at 5.8% compared with 4.6%. Farms near Biggar keep machinery and fuel in outbuildings far from neighbours, which suits rural mobile patrols and solar CCTV towers. Manufacturing units at Lindsaylands Industrial Estate or Biggar Business Park typically need key holding, alarm response and, for larger sites, access control. 9,385 Registered businesses in South Lanarkshire 4 Pubs, bars & nightclubs within 5 km ### Named sites within 5km of Biggar - **Industrial & business parks:** Biggar Business Park and Lindsaylands Industrial Estate - **Hospitals:** Kello Hospital ### Venues & Martyn's Law Purves Puppet Theatre is Biggar's listed venue. Security Requirements in Biggar ## Biggar's quiet character Biggar is a small South Lanarkshire town with no railway station, no mapped construction sites and just 4 pubs and bars within 5km. Kello Hospital serves the area, and commercial activity centres on Biggar Business Park and Lindsaylands Industrial Estate. In a place this quiet, the main security concern is premises left empty overnight, so monitored alarms and occasional patrols usually make more sense than a permanent guard. Since the two systems record and present figures differently, we do not quote a local crime total for Biggar. The more useful starting point is your own building or event: how people get in, where valuables or equipment are kept, and how alarms are monitored. Our free on-site security audit, worth £250, examines those questions and provides a 25-point risk checklist. Local Policing ## Police Scotland in Biggar Police Scotland covers Biggar.
