Agriculture is the largest sector with 5,860, then professional services with 4,160 and construction with 3,960. A farming share four times the British average means a great deal of equipment, fuel and livestock housed away from homes. Rural mobile patrols on varied timings and solar CCTV towers that need no mains supply suit that kind of property well. Hospitality accounts for 8.0% of the county's firms, against 6.5% nationally, so pubs and guest businesses may need evening cover or door staff on busier nights. Bentham is served from our wider officer pool rather than a local base. Each officer holds an SIA licence, has passed BS 7858 vetting and is on PAYE, and GPS book-on produces a report for every call. 32,560 Registered businesses in North Yorkshire 11 Pubs, bars & nightclubs within 5 km ### Commercial sites around Bentham - **Industrial & business parks:** Bentham Industrial Estate, Ingleton Trading Estate, Kidde Fire Products and Clifford Hall Farm - **Rail stations:** Bentham Sources: Go Security officer network (counts rounded to the nearest 5); ONS UK Business Counts via Nomis; place data © [OpenStreetMap contributors](https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright). Officers are looking at cannabis cultivation around Settle and North Craven, visitor-related trouble at local beauty spots and e-bikes ridden anti-socially. For landowners and rural businesses, that means outbuildings, empty barns and car parks need checking, and alarms need someone ready to respond. Violence and sexual offences make up 20 of that small total, anti-social behaviour 11 and other theft 6, while shoplifting and vehicle crime register 4 apiece. For a business, the risk lies less in volume than in isolation: a single break-in at a remote yard may go unnoticed for hours.
