# Security in the West Midlands: local crime trends and how businesses respond

Published 9 September 2026 · 5 min read

As a Birmingham-headquartered business, Go Security protects sites right across the West Midlands, from the city centre to the Black Country, Solihull, Coventry and beyond. It gives us a close view of the security challenges local businesses face, and how the best of them respond.

## A region with real security demands

The West Midlands is one of the UK's largest and busiest business regions, and that scale brings pressure. Dense urban centres, extensive industrial and logistics estates, active construction and a vibrant retail and events scene all create sites that need protecting. Commercial burglary, theft from construction and industrial sites, retail crime and antisocial behaviour are recurring concerns for local operators.

## See the picture where you are

Rather than generalise, we build local crime context into our [location pages](https://gosecurity.uk/locations.html), which draw on live police data so you can see the picture for your own town. It is a more honest starting point than headline figures, and it helps businesses make security decisions grounded in their actual area.

Good local security starts with local knowledge: understanding the specific pressures a site faces, street by street.

## How West Midlands businesses are responding

- **Layering technology and presence**, combining monitored [CCTV towers](https://gosecurity.uk/cctv.html#tower) with [mobile patrols](https://gosecurity.uk/security.html#mobile) for cost-effective cover.
- **Protecting construction and industrial sites** against theft and metal loss with towers, K9 patrols and access control.
- **Supporting retail and town-centre sites** with visible, trained officers.
- **Choosing local, accountable providers** who can respond quickly and know the area.

## A local partner you can rely on

Being based in Birmingham means we are close to the sites we protect, with officers who know the region and a 24/7 control room coordinating guarding, patrols, key holding and alarm response. Alarm and CCTV tower monitoring runs through an NSI Gold accredited monitoring centre. Every officer is SIA-licensed, [BS 7858-vetted](https://gosecurity.uk/blog-bs-7858-vetting.html) and on PAYE. Whether you are in the city centre or on the edge of the region, we can help.
